Funding Announcement from the City of Edmonton
Vision de Loin Society is thrilled to announce that we have received $14,300 in funding from the City of Edmonton. This support comes through the Anti-Racism Community Activation Stream and will help us launch the One People Festival, scheduled for Summer 2026.
This funding represents a significant milestone for Vision de Loin and the communities we serve. It acknowledges the importance of arts-based, community-driven approaches to confront racism. Our goal is to build spaces where people can come together across differences.
Celebrating Diversity Through the One People Festival
The One People Festival is a free, public cultural event. It will bring together music, food, film, storytelling, and dialogue to celebrate Edmonton’s diversity while directly addressing racism. Inspired by the idea that we are different colors but one people, the festival is designed as a shared gathering. Youth, elders, families, artists, and community organizations will stand side by side—not just as audiences, but as active participants in a collective experience.
Building the Festival Foundation
Support from the City of Edmonton allows us to begin building the foundation of the festival. We will engage artists and community partners, support youth leadership, and ensure that the event remains accessible to all. This funding also affirms the importance of creating public spaces where difficult conversations can happen alongside joy, creativity, and cultural celebration.
The Journey Ahead
While this grant marks a major step forward, it is only the beginning. Vision de Loin will continue working with community partners, sponsors, and supporters. Our goal is to grow the One People Festival into a lasting annual tradition—one that reflects Edmonton’s commitment to inclusion, equity, and belonging.
We are deeply grateful to the City of Edmonton for investing in this vision and for supporting community-led anti-racism initiatives. We look forward to welcoming the city to the first edition of the One People Festival in Summer 2026.
